The writings of Terence number 159 on the 29th of July 2008

Me: Good evening to you all, I thought that it would be a good idea to do a lecture on “Meditation” tonight as I am curious to what Spirit has to say about all this. Now for all who want to connect with Spirit or should I say to get closer to Spirit then “Meditation” is terribly important.

First of all I would like to make one very important statement on meditation. I have read and also heard from people who teach meditation that you must empty your mind before you can meditate. Now, in my research and now ultimately in my considered opinion, to empty your mind is a virtual impossibility. I have yet to find anyone that can create that particular phenomenon. In this day and age with the worries and anxieties that the average person carries around with them on a day to day basis, to be able to empty the mind is an impossibility. Therefore, for the person who would wish to be able to meditate, will not, because they know that they cannot empty their mind? Well that is what the supposed experts will tell you.

When a meditation teacher makes the statement that you have to empty your mind before meditating, that teacher has then just lost a student. This is because of the student’s attitude of mind. That student would then have to ask, how can you empty your conscious mind with your everyday living problems. The meditation teacher will then normally respond by saying, with that all knowing smile on their face, (which has a tendency to irritate me personally) "that to empty your mind will only come through lots and lots of practice". Or the teacher will bypass the student’s question, or answer the student’s question, with another question.

I personally will respond to that particular statement by saying this. As long as you have a tremendous amount of patience, which most of us have not, and you are some sort of guru, which you are not, then maybe, and I do mean just maybe you will then be able to empty your conscious mind. But I do know one thing, and that is this, that for me personally, I cannot empty my conscious mind when I meditate, and believe me, I do successfully meditate.

I would like you to understand one very important thing, and that is, the only way you can stop your conscious mind from working, is to go to sleep, or to be unconscious, or you are not of this Earth plane in the conscious sense. Because the conscious mind NEVER EVER stops working while you are awake. For the one who wishes to learn the art of meditating, then I will encourage you to do this one very important thing, and that is to fill your conscious mind with one particular thought, as you would when you fill a jug of water from a tap. It is that easy.

Do not empty your mind; instead just fill your mind with a thought.

The art of meditation really comes from ancient Asia, the Chinese, Indian, Japanese etc. It is through these ancient cultures that the art of meditation has become one of the most health giving forms of life itself. Meditation will bring to you the peace and tranquility of your very own life. It will also help to bring to you the riches of what your very own life is looking for. But it seems, that due to the western world, the western attitudes, possibly jealousies and being secretive as well, that the proper art of meditation seems to have lost its way.

Meditation will bring you closer to Spirit, because you are Spirit and Spirit is you. Meditation will make you become that much better person. A person with wisdom and knowledge, because meditation will actually relax your body and mind, and help to remove the anxieties, tension, anger and some sickness that is around you. You will find that you will easily be able to cope a lot better with your everyday problems when you meditate on a regular basis. Sometimes, if you are looking for answers to a particular problem in your life, I have found that through meditation, I have found the answers. Not immediately of course, but because meditation brings you closer to Spirit, you will eventually find that once you start to meditate on a regular basis that help from Spirit is closer to you than you imagined. One more thing to remember. You do not have to meditate at a particular time, any time will do. Fifteen to twenty minutes a day, five times a week will suffice.

Alright, with all that in your mind let me teach you what to do with a simple meditation. Now for the beginners, find yourself a nice quiet room where you will not be disturbed for ten to twenty minutes. Now you will need some very pleasant relaxing type music, now there are plenty of meditation music CD’s that you can buy from your record shops, for instance there is the music from Tony O’Connor. You want nice relaxing music without the toe tapping beat. Alright now you have a nice comfortable chair, now sit down in it, switch your music on and then close your eyes. Now let the music flow around you and start to fill your mind with, let us say a picture of a field, or the sea, the countryside, a field of beautiful flowers, let us say a dog or a cat or whatever. If your mind starts to wander then try to bring the picture back.

Let us assume that you cannot hold a picture within your conscious mind for longer than a minute, then don’t stress yourself, don’t force your conscious mind because all you are doing is fighting and that only causes stress and then you say “fuck it” and give up, been there and done that. So let us try another way, now mentally picture yourself walking along the side of a stream and you are watching the fish swim around in this stream, and then as you are walking you come into a field of corn. Yes, you are walking alongside this field of corn and then you eventually see a field of flowers, it is as simple as that but do not create dramatic scenario’s. You should create scenario’s that can fit in with the very relaxing music that you are listening to.

I want you to understand that there are no rules where the working of Spirit is concerned as there are no rules regarding meditation. Why are there no rules because each person is different? We are not like a practiced Tibetan monk and people like them. I meditate only to keep the closeness of Spirit, because if I do not then they will lean on me so to speak and give me a gentle telling off.

I meditate between ten and fifteen minutes per day, maybe sometimes longer as it will depend on what is running around in my mind at that moment, but for the one who is just starting out why not just try five minutes a day to begin with. Don’t push yourself, just be casual about it, because being casual about meditation is so important because being casual about it means that you are not going to stress about what YOU now want to do on a daily basis or at least five days a week.

Now let us assume that you would prefer to have some ground rules regarding the start and the finishing of your meditation. Now I can assure you that this is not necessary, but there are plenty of people out there, the supposed experts that state the opposite to me but they cannot do what I do. Ok, so here are some ground rules just to make you happy.

When you are sitting comfortably and listening to your music with your eyes closed, mentally open up your seven “Chakras”. How do you do this, imagine a chest of draws with seven individual draws, you mentally open each one. That’s it; now away you go on your meditation trip.

Now you have finished your meditation and you want to close down. This is done by mentally closing the “Chakras” one by one as if you were closing each draw in a chest of draws. When you have done this then you will say to yourself, "With my feet planted firmly on the ground I can see a beautiful golden beam of light coming out of each foot, going straight down to the center of the earth, keeping me grounded, connected and in balance. When you have done this then the meditation is finished and you can open up your eyes and become aware of your own surroundings. You do not have to do this, but most human beings like to have rules and if you want rules then ok this is a good set of rules to have regarding your meditations.

George: Very good Terence M. But it is so, so very important that the human being has DISCIPLINE regarding their meditations and the laying down of rules is a good start because it creates the discipline. Now I will tell you off, but in a nice way. You forget that you yourself have already been through all of the rules and regulations that the spiritualist’s have created. You do not need this because you have climbed the ladder, but the beginner needs somewhere to start and that is far, far more important and that is why I interfered with the last part of your lecture.

Look how I was when I was last on your Earth plane; I meditated for just ten minutes per day, yes that is all, but I was not a beginner, I was an experienced Spirit lecturer, as the spiritualist’s likes to call it “on platform”, yes a silly phrase but I was also part and parcel of that type of thing, and yes I had my followers who wanted to learn and ask Spirit questions.

Now for the one who is just starting out regarding the world of meditation, you my young friend have covered it all, but I would like to add a little bit more. Is incense necessary regarding the art of meditation, the answer to that is NO, in fact it can be quite off-putting to say the least. When meditating, you can do this with colours; yes bring different colours into your conscious mind whilst you are meditating especially the colours of the rainbow. Another nice way is to imagine the beautiful potted plants that you can have within your home and you can breathe in their vibrant colours, Ah such a relaxing way of meditating because you are using what Mother Nature has created for you. Using Mother Nature’s creations is such a perfect way to meditate.

Lin-Po: Yes, good evening to you all and I would like to add my little bit to this lecture. When I was last alive on your Earth plane I meditated everyday because that is what I wanted to do, but for the moment let us look at meditation and what is it. It is the time that YOU choose to be with the SELF. Yes and yes and definitely yes again it is the time for you to be with your SELF. It is this time that creates patience within yourself. It is this time that questions can be answered that YOU cannot find for yourself. It is this time that you become close to Spirit.

Everyday I meditated in my ornamental garden away from ALL the hassles of everyday life. I spent hours in the royal court as a diplomatic person which was trying to say the least. I came home to my beautiful residence to my wife and my concubines, but I needed peace for a short period of time and that peace I demanded within my residence. Be assured one woman is enough let alone many because I spoilt my women, I gave them a voice. So my meditations in my garden gave me peace of mind. These meditations created answers to all my human problems because I was at peace with myself during my meditations.

It is so important for you ALL to realise that you just cannot carry on with your life in the way that you are creating it, because most of you ALL are also adding STRESS within your own lives. Meditation within YOURSELF for the SELF creates the peace for maybe just a very short period of time, but it is so, so very important because you are GIVING TIME TO YOUR “SELF”.

Very many people like to sit in the Lotus position when meditating, yes this is fine because you sit in a position that you feel comfortable with, but meditation is such a personal thing and it is definitely NOT a communal thing because EVERYBODY is an individual person. Yes, you can join a meditation class if that is what you want to do, but eventually you will leave and meditate on your own.

MEDITATION is nothing special as others would prefer it to be, like something being so mysterious and hard to grasp. Meditation is being with your SELF and who is your SELF, it is so simple, you are giving time to YOU, you are spending time with yourself but you are putting effort into what you are doing. Yes you may be sitting there contemplating your navel so to speak, but you are spending time with your SELF. It is that which is most important and it is that which you must ALWAYS do so that you can understand ALL what you do and create.

Sarah: Yes it is me again. Meditation clears the mind of all the junk that you have accumulated. Let me explain, imagine that you have never meditated, therefore all the junk that you have mentally accumulated over very many years still sits with you in a mental condition if that makes sense. In other words when you make a mental decision it becomes strangled and possibly confused amongst all the unwanted junk that you have within your mind.

So what does meditation do for you, yes it clears the conscious mind so that you can NOW think in a clear and constructive manner. It is like looking through a dirty smeared window, whatever you are looking at through that window has become somewhat distorted, meditation ALWAYS keeps that window clear of ALL distortions. It is important for you to realise that meditation is such a simple way of becoming as ONE with the SELF. Yes you are a human being and you are so totally guilty of incriminating your SELF because you do not understand your SELF. It is simple, your SELF is YOU, now become YOU, work for YOU and do the right thing by YOU, but never let another CHANGE you, because you are YOU.

Become as you should become, never what others want you to become. Become that human being that you and others respect, but be proud of yourself and be truthful in all your deeds that you do to yourself and that you do to others.

Many thanks for tonight and I on behalf of Terence M, George and Lin-Po and of course myself Sarah would like to bid you goodnight and when you go to sleep dream of what you would like to become.
